Was looking for Stephen Whittemore and found R. Preston living 3 houses away. There is a Knapp living next door to Prestons. Isabella Knapp was married to Richard Preston at this time. In Richard's household there are:

one male 40-50 (Richard age 45)
one female 5-10(Harriet age 6)
one female 10-15 (Isabelle's daughter Julia age 14)
one female 30-40 (Isabelle age 31)
None of Richard's children from his marriage to Mary are living with them. (Richard-24, Mary Ann-22, Sarah-20, James W.-18, Ebenezer-16) and the three boys from Isabelle's marriage to Hardy are not there either. (William E.-9, George B.-11, Niles R.-13) Are they dead?

Sarah E. Preston is living with William B. Preston (son of Richard and Isabelle). William does not own any real estate, while Sarah owns $1,000 in real estate. She owns the house. William is eligible to vote and Sarah cannot read or write.


The archive family group sheet for Richard Preston indicates that James Whitmore Preston's brother, Richard Diamond Preston is married to Nancy Houston. James W. Preston sealed his brother to his father-in-law's sister, Nancy Houston who died in 1836 at the age of 35, unmarried.(see Samuel Houston Notes)
